1. Where is Apache Junction Animal Control located and what are your hours of operation?

We are located at 725 E. Baseline, Apache Junction, AZ 85119. (East of Idaho Road and West of Tomahawk Road on the South side of Baseline). Our office is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:00am to 3:00pm. The kennel is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:00am to 3:00pm. We are closed Sundays and Mondays.

2. How can we contact Apache Junction Animal Control?

3. Where can I go for vaccinations and licenses?

Animal Control no longer provides rabies vaccinations at our facility. The MASH Unit provides rabies vaccinations in the East parking lot on most Tuesdays. If you reside in Pinal County outside our city limits, please call Pinal County Animal Care and Control at 888.431.1311. 4. Do you provide Veterinary Services?

Animal Control does not have an on-site veterinarian and cannot give advice of any medical treatment. We do have the Mobile Animal Surgical Hospital (MASH) with Dr. Julia Neufeld, a veterinarian, who spays and neuters at our facility by appointment only. She also provides vaccines and additional services for the public at a reasonable price on a walk-in basis between 9:00am and 11:00am on scheduled days. 5. Do you provide free or low cost spay or neuter?

No.

6. What happens if my animal is lost or found?

Animal control keeps a list of the lost and found animals that are called in, however, we highly recommend that you physically come into our facility and look for your lost pet as your description and ours may be different. You may post a picture of your pet on our Facebook page or online at petharbor.com. 

7. What should I do if I am concerned about the welfare of an animal?

All dogs must have adequate shade and shelter available and water 24 hours a day. If you are concerned or would like to report animal abuse, neglect, abandoned or are just concerned about an animal, please call the Police Department at this number (480) 982-8260.

Horses are considered livestock and are not required to have shade, however, if you feel the horse is in distress, please contact the Arizona Livestock at (602) 542-0872.

8. Where can we drop off an animal?

We accept animals from within the Apache Junction incorporated city limits only. We are a small facility and fill up quickly. We do not want to upset anyone should we be at full capacity and turn you away. Therefore we ask that you please call first before bringing any animal into our facility. We appreciate your cooperation and patience regarding this matter.

9. Do you perform euthanasia?

Currently we provide this service to the public by appointment only. This service is for sick or injured animals only. Please call the office before bringing in your pet for euthanasia. The suggested time for this is between 10:00am and 2:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday.

10. Do you pick up cats?

Animal control does not pick up cats. Please call before bringing a cat into our facility.

11. Who can I contact after hours?

For animal emergencies such as animals on the loose, abuse, neglect, in danger or any other concern, after hours you can contact the police department at (480) 982-8260 but if a life threatening situation exists please call 9-1-1 immediately.
