With a wet winter earlier this year and the monsoon rains upon us, we are facing one of the consequences -- unwanted weeds.
The code compliance division of the city’s Development Services wants to share a friendly reminder that the city does have an ordinance that requires all weeds over 10 inches to be cut. All property owners and/or occupants are responsible for their half of any alleys at the rear of their properties and all the way to the pavement at the front yard.
Weeds are unsightly but also are a fire hazard when they dry out, which has been the case over the last three months of dry, extremely hot conditions.
The city is expending tremendous efforts in code compliance to clean up properties throughout the city. But property owners are asked to help by cutting down the overgrown weeds on their property and adjacent to their property. Please help make Apache Junction a nice-looking place for all of us and our visitors to enjoy.
Code compliance staff address many of the blighting issues found in the city, but the best results come from our citizens taking pride in their properties.
