The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers who use State Route 88 in Apache Junction to allow extra travel time while the following long-term closure is in place for drainage improvements.
The intersection of SR 88 and Tomahawk Road will be closed beginning Monday, April 17, through the end of May.
DETOUR:
- Drivers traveling northeast on SR 88 may use eastbound Superstition Boulevard and northbound Goldfield Road to Lost Dutchman Boulevard, then west to return to SR 88.
- Drivers traveling southwest on SR 88 may use westbound Lost Dutchman Boulevard to southbound Idaho Road to return to SR 88.
ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while work is underway.

The improvements will include installing new pipe culverts for the intersection at SR 88 and Tomahawk Road and modifying three existing culverts in the project area.
In the project, sections of SR 88 will be narrowed to one lane with alternating north- and southbound travel nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone during these nightly closures.
