Do you have a pre-teen or teenager looking for something to do this summer? Why not have them work at the aquatic center? Gain valuable work experience, learn how to work as part of a team, and help educate the community on water safety while having fun. It is a positive environment to work in and we have opportunities for those age 11 and older.
The city is now accepting applications for lifeguards and water safety instructors for the 2021 season. Applicants must have a current lifeguard or water safety instructor certification or be currently enrolled in a certification class. All job and volunteer applications can be found online under the “jobs/volunteer” tab on the city website at www.ajcity.net.
Not yet old enough to work but would like to gain valuable work experience? Join our Jr. Lifeguard team. Jr. Lifeguarding is a volunteer program designed for kids ages 11-14 that work closely with the aquatic staff and gain knowledge about what it takes to be a lifeguard or water safety instructor. They will learn important skills that can transition them into a paying job in the future. Our volunteers earn credits that can be used for any program offered through Parks and Recreation. Attending a Jr. Lifeguard training class is required for first time Jr. guards. Registration for classes can be done online at www.ajcity.net/onlinereg or in person at 1035 N. Idaho Rd. in Apache Junction.
Returning Jr. Lifeguards do not need to attend this training again. Simply go online and submit a Jr. Lifeguard Volunteer application. Applications must be submitted no later than May 1.
