Division of Building Safety and Inspections (Building Permits)
The Building Safety Division is committed to public safety. We pledge to maintain the highest standards of integrity and treat all persons courteously, equally and fair. We will strive to serve the public efficiently, accurately and in a timely fashion.
The Building Safety Division coordinates the permit process including building plan review and subsequent inspections to ensure building code conformance. Building Safety also reviews civil engineering plans to ensure compliance with City Engineering Design Guidelines, State and Federal Codes and Regulations.
Building Division includes a Proactive Abatement function to protect the public’s safety from blighted and sub-standard structures. We monitor the condition of buildings and properties within city limits for compliance with City codes and property maintenance standards and identify problem areas for proactive code enforcement efforts. Code Compliance also develops strategies and coordinates efforts to abate dangerous building and property conditions.
