Overview
It is the responsibility of Detention Officers to take custody of prisoners from arresting officers and book them into the detention facility. This is achieved by searching the prisoner, completing the required documentation, fingerprinting, and photographing.
Detention Officers are responsible for escorting prisoners to and from court as well as transporting them to the applicable county jail. Detention Officers can release prisoners on bond when payment is made according to established guidelines.
Detention Officers are responsible for the security and welfare of prisoners, which involves providing meals, and when necessary, obtaining medical attention. Additional duties include restraining combative, suicidal, argumentative or mentally disturbed prisoners.
