  • Wash your vehicle at commercial car washes that can recycle water or on an area of your property where water is kept on site and is absorbed into the ground.

  • Buy nontoxic or "green" products.
  • Don't overuse detergents, cleaners, solvents and paints. Use amounts as communicated on the product's directions.
  • Store maintenance products and equipment away from rain and runoff.
  • Clean up any spills.
  • Dispose of household hazardous wastes properly.
  • Bag and dispose of trash properly.

  • Keep washes free of soil, trash or any potentially polluting items
  • Keep animal waste out of washes and dispose of properly on a regular basis.

  • Control erosion in your yard, wash, by landscaping or employing other techniques to counter erosion.
