About the AJPD Youth Academy

The Apache Junction Police Department Youth Academy is designed to build relationships between 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade kids and the Police Department. In addition, this program is to introduce children to what occurs at the AJPD on a daily basis. The program is $20 to ensure your spot, and all participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and lunch each day.

What will be taught at the Academy?

  • SWAT Demo 
  • K9- Demo
  • Traffic accident investigation
  • CSI Training
  • Defensive tactics 
  • Apprehensions
  • Tour of PD and Courts
  • And much more!

NOTE - Children will not shoot firearms. Some physical and hands-on activities will be encouraged.

Requirements

The Academy is accepting applications from 6th, 7th, or 8th-grade children who reside in Apache Junction or attend a school within its city limits. While there is no academic requirement, students must exhibit good behavior at all times. It's important to note that this is not a boot camp or program for rebellious teens. Parents or guardians must provide a permission slip and waiver as part of the application packet; transportation to and from the school is their responsibility.
